The Return

At the edge of my Great Water

Waves thunderously crashing to its shores.

Look upon its Horizon, you will find me standing there…waiting.

Hoping to catch a glimpse of our memories,

A treasure I will not easily surrender.

Searching its depth for a light I know is there.

Not caring to know my way back…I plunge into its eternity.

Its jealous remorse cries out to me, a deafening roar.

Silence is my prize, a drowning mans solitude…

The depths unable to keep you…

Returning you to me

  1. Wow! This is amazing my brother! The imagery is awesome! I could easily illustrate this poem. The metaphor you chose creates a mythological feel to this poem. The emotion contained within is powerful and moving. I read it to my wife, who’s a better poet than I and she smiled and said,” Beautiful”. I agree. Well done! Thank you for sharing this poem my brother and a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

      1. I would be honored to illustrate your poetry. I have done so before for other poet friends of mine. The current book cover of my new poetry book, Phoenix Rising is my most recent illustration. I can’t promise how quick I’ll get it done with my working weekends now for extra money for school which starts on Jan.6 2016, spring semester of my sophomore year. It shouldn’t take too long though. I will keep you posted on progress. I’ll start it this coming Monday as I’m working this Saturday and Sunday. I’ll notify you when it’s done and you can tell me where to send it so you can upload it. Look forward to hearing your opinion. If you would like to see some of my illustrations send me a Facebook friend request and once I accept you can check out my Sikora Art photo album there. Most of the drawings there are previously published. Have a Merry Christmas my brother.

      2. Merry Christmas to you, too! I couldn’t sleep last night after working Christmas Eve pushing carts at Wal Mart when I got my old job back working part time while I’m in school to help with the cost. So I put on my Kansas playlist and my earbuds and stayed up until 2:30 am this morning writing a new poem,”The Real Magic of Christmas” and dedicated it to Jesus. I’m going to post it as my Saturday Poem this weekend. I hope you have a wonderful day and a great weekend, my brother. I have an idea for the illustration for The Return and talked with my wife about the idea, she thinks it will be perfect for your poem. I’m doing the rough sketch this weekend, so I’ll have the idea down on paper before I begin the real deal this coming week.

      3. I didn’t get it posted last night. I was totally fried mentally and physically after work. The day after Christmas at Wal Mart is just as bad as Christmas Eve. 😄

      1. Same for you and yours my brother. Taking my sweetheart nerd lady out to dinner and Star Wars: The Force Awakens for our celebration. I know you will do great nines in 2016 band your poetry will grow with you and your insight. I hope you achieve your dreams, too, my bro. I’ve done the rough sketch of my vision for your poem and hope to start the real illustration this coming week. I’ll keep you posted. Peace to you and yours.
